Abstract
Description
The Altemberger House (Casa Altemberger) is a large medieval complex built between the 14th and 16th centuries, originally serving as the residence of Sibiu’s mayor, Thomas Altemberger. Its architecture combines Gothic elements with later Renaissance additions, visible in the pointed arches, stone portals, and the inner courtyard framed by arcades. Parts of the old defensive walls are still integrated into the structure, showing how the building grew together with the city’s fortifications. Today it houses the History Museum, but much of its medieval character remains intact.
